Here is a very clean desktop by Bassam Rajput. Click the image for a full-res version on Flickr. The label center screen sums it up perfectly: “Be original.”
Featured Desktop: Jittery Jim’s Mac Desktop
I’ve been exploring some nice desktops on Flickr recently, and came across this one, by “Jittery Jim”. (Click image to view it full-size on Flickr.)
Featured Desktop: Joli OS
I’ve become quite lazy in my use of Linux. I spend much of my time in OS X, and don’t have much time available for tweaking drivers or trying out new distros. I’ve found an easier way. This is a screenshot of my Linux netbook today. (Click the image for a full-size screenshot.)
I’m using Joli OS from Jolicloud, which differs from other distros in several ways. Firstly, they use a great-looking HTML 5 interface that resembles the iPad. That’s not a major selling point for me (it’s good to know that the full power of Linux is just under the hood), but my grandson loves it. What I love most is that they personally test the distro on every piece of hardware they support. In my case, it means that it works out of the box with the normally frustrating Intel GMA500 chipset in my Acer AO750h netbook.

Featured Desktop: Andy Muehlhausen
This is the attractive and functional desktop of composer and Windows-user Andy Muehlhausen. Click each screenshot to view it full size. I’ll let Andy describe his desktop in his own words.
I have a firm belief that Windows can be just as visually appealing as OS. And, with a little work (and no $$$), it can even look better and function with more ease than a Mac.

We featured Grant Mitchell’s desktop back in August. Since then he’s completely revamped it. This is what it looked like on New Year’s Eve. Click the image for a high-res version on DeviantArt.

Featured Desktop: Adrian’s GeekTool Desktop
How does a Mac guy combine command line fun with design? GeekTool. I’ve been meaning to play with it since it appeared in the Mac App Store months ago, and this morning I had my chance. You can see the results of my morning play time above. Click for a full-size image.
Working from home I don’t have many time-specific events or appointments, so sometimes I get surprised when they do crop up because I just forget to look. I live with a to do list in front of me, not a calendar. I noticed some people have been using GeekTool to put their calendars prominently on their desktops, so I thought I’d give it a go.
Featured Desktop: Ivor Padilla’s Zoo
When Travis “KingDog” King announced the Envato Zoo on the forums a few months ago, ThemeForest author Ivor Padilla was quick to respond. He posted his clean and very brown desktop screenshot, featuring Pasquale’s “the world wide bear”. To add a taste of ThemeForest legitimacy, Ivor has MAMP PRO running.
What do you think of Ivor’s desktop? Are you using a wallpaper from the Envato Zoo? Make sure you submit it!

Featured Desktop: ConstantinPotorac
This is the September 2011 Envato-themed desktop of GraphicRiver reviewer ConstantinPotorac. Click the image to explore it full sized on Flickr.
Constantin obviously loves the color purple, and prefers his favorite tools on a 2D dock on the left of his screen. He loves a clean desktop, with only two icons living there – one is a folder called “Desktop”.
He talks about his taste in desktops on Flickr:
I just love simple and clean desktops and that is why I keep mine as clean as possible. Your workspace reflects exactly how a person is in real life and I know I am organized as this desktop is.
