Are you a professional? The sort of professional that other professionals love to work with? It’s time for some self-evaluation.

So grab a cuppa and sit down for a chat with Aetuts+ Editor Adam Everett Miller. He gets very up close and personal with you in this Aetuts+ video, which will strike a chord with all creatives, not just those who are into video.

In today’s post I’m going to do something a little different and just having a nice sit down chat. I’ve never done something like this in the 3 years I’ve been running this site. I thought this might be a nice chance for me to share a few red flags I’ve noticed that tell me whether I would want to work with you more than once.

Are you a professional?

BlackBerry email on the BB 8330 by Ian Lamont

If you’re like most freelancers, you spend more time emailing your clients than meeting face to face or speaking on the phone. How are your email skills?

Adam Everett Miller of Aetuts+ fame has put together a helpful collection of tips about emailing clients: 5 Client Emailing Tips Worth Forwarding. Visit the post to read the tips in their full glory, but here they are in a nutshell:

  1. Subjects shouldn’t be “Hey”.
  2. Include your info in your signature.
  3. Use BCC when you send a mass email.
  4. Emails are permanent.
  5. Establish an action step.

My favorite tip was Number 5. What was yours? And do you have an email tip that wasn’t mentioned in the post? Let us know in the comments.

Are you a closet movie critic? Do you have good taste and a discerning eye? Then we need your help! Help us choose the winner in Aetuts’ latest competition.

On a recent post on the site, “PFhoe-ly Cow!”… It’s Time For You To Vote!” (and that’s got to be the most creative spelling of “Holy Cow” I’ve ever seen!), editor Adam Everett Miller makes a confession:

So I was going to judge the entries for the “PFhoe-ly Cow!” Matchmoving Contest myself… by myself, but after watching through them all… I honestly gotta say, “Holy Cow!”, it’s a tough choice… Basically, I figured I’d see what you guys thought first. You get two picks… who do you think it should be? I’ll close voting this Friday the 13th at midnight EST.

Can you help Adam out? Do you have what it takes to pick a winner? Then jump over to Aetuts+ right now, check out the entries, and vote.
