Picture the average guy or girl from the Envato community. Imagine their day passing, from the time they get out of bed till the time they go back. Imagine the gadgets they play with, the things that take their attention, and the tools they use to manage their tasks and time.
This post weighs up the results from ten Your Say polls that look at our digital lifestyle. Do you share the lifestyle of the average Envatoid?
1. Laptop or Desktop

The average Envatoid is twice as likely to use a desktop as a laptop. I’d guess a high percentage of desktop users would also own a laptop.
2. Mobile Phone

There’s a wide mix in the phones we use. We’re just as likely to use Android as iOS or some other phone.
3. Icons on the Desktop
![]()
Envato attracts users with very clean desktops. More than half of us have less than 10 icons on our desktop, and very few have more than a hundred.
4. Emails in the Inbox

On the other hand, almost half of us have email inboxes that are out of control. A similar number have less than a hundred emails in theirs, and many of these are attempting to practise Inbox Zero.
5. Devices in Bed

A huge number of us use devices in bed. Almost half of us use a smart phone in bed, and a quarter of us use a laptop and/or tablet before and after we fall asleep.
6. Notes

Envatoids keep notes in all kinds of ways. About half of us use paper/whiteboards, while the other half use software of various kinds.
7. Calendar

While many of us use paper for our notes and to do lists, that doesn’t carry over to our calendars. Over 80% of us manage our appointments via software. I wonder what makes the difference? Perhaps we share our calendars more than our notes and tasks, or is there some other benefit of going digital with our diaries?
8. To Do Lists

Pen and paper is our favorite option for keeping a to do list. I’m a little surprised that about a tenth of us don’t have the need for a to do list at all. But when you add up all the software options, it turns out that over half of us use an app to manage our tasks. We just use a lot of different options.
9. Reading Books

Yes, we Envatoids do still read books. And most of us prefer the paper type.
10. Photo Editor

There’s no doubt about this one. In a community with a huge focus on Adobe products, Photoshop is the clear winner.
What does the average Envato community member look like? Besides the fact that they don’t exist, they would look a bit like this if they did:
They prefer a desktop computer, and use their smart phone in bed. They have a full inbox and empty desktop. They prefer paper for notes, books and to do lists, but use software for their calendar. And when it comes to graphics editing, they use Photoshop.

Ha! The To-Do list.
I think everyone has the same experience: they basically tried out some app or program that tracks to-do’s but they always revert back to the good ol’ pen & paper. You just can’t beat it.
