Web.AppStorm editor Matthew Guay lives and works in Thailand. He works from a variety of interesting workspaces, including this one. Click the image to view it on Flickr.
His outdoors workspace here includes a picnic table, iPad 1, keyboard, and our dog to keep him company. That’s about as simple as it gets!
Matt describes some of his other workplaces:
I’ve scheduled articles from the back of the car over EDGE on the iPad from the middle of nowhere along the largest swamp in Thailand, and saw crocodiles walking along the road while I’m scheduling stuff in WordPress. That might be the most exotic one yet.
I imagine that working in such interesting places could give Matt some great excuses. Why was that post late, Matt? My crocodile ate it.
What do you think of Matt’s workspace? Let us know in the comments.
Would you like your workspace featured on Envato Notes? Upload your photo to somewhere on the Web and let us know about it on our Write a Post page. Or upload it to Flickr and tag it with #envatonotesworkspaces. Either way, add an interesting description. Each week we’ll choose and publish a new photo.

ahahahah AMAZING!
I should mention that I do most of my work from my indoors office on a Mac Mini i5. But it is rather nice to break outside and sit in the breeze writing editorials!
And nope, I haven’t had any articles eaten by crocodiles … yet. I did have an article eaten by Windows once, which is why I’ve banished it to a virtual machine
If it was me, I would not be comfortable with a tablet device even if you get a keyboard with it. A laptop, Mac or PC, instead of the iPad would be the perfect workspace for me.
If I only had one device, then I’d definitely agree with you. I had a desktop PC before, though, and so since I had an iPad, I upgraded to a Mac Mini this year. Works out as a rather nice combo … but if I had to buy just one machine right now, then I’d buy a Mac Mini.
Honestly, though, for my work, just about anything with a web browser cuts it.
Hi,
Great to read this
I’m a freelance Java / Ruby developer also working from Thailand. I can relate to you.
I guess the pictures are from Isaan.
There is a world of difference between having to work in a grey cubicle in a corporate environment or doing the same job in the amazing landscapes of Thailand (or any other place on Earth that you really love).
We live in interesting times
Best regards,
Juan
