This is the first of a new series of posts featuring desktops from the Envato community, starting with my 11″ MacBook Air. (Click the image above for a full-sized screenshot.) If you’d like to submit your desktop, check out the instructions at the end of the post.
My MacBook Air is my portable work machine. I do most of my work on my iMac, which might explain how tidy my desktop is—just one icon! The “Envato” folder is actually an alias to a folder in Dropbox, so the files I’m working on stay in sync on all my machines.
I only keep the apps I use regularly in the dock, and I have unusual taste in software. There is a bunch of open-source software: muCommander, some common browsers, the Gimp, LibreOffice, Komodo Edit and Eloquent. I keep all of my notes and snippets in sync using the cross-platform Evernote, and rely on Things to keep my organized (though I wish they’d finish their sync already).
I’m currently using a dark wallpaper to see if it gives me an extra hour of battery life. I also prefer the look of a 2D dock, which is a setting you can access with the Secrets System Preferences add-on.
What do you think of my desktop?
