New Job Opening: Crafttuts+ Editor

Update: Applications for the position are closing on Friday 24th August, 2012.

We’re always looking to expand into new areas with the Tuts+ network — just last month, we’ve launched both Mactuts+ and Gamedevtuts+ — and we have some really exciting sites planned for the rest of the year as well!

Most of the skills we teach at present are computer-based. Photoshop, web development, WordPress, After Effects — all of these are fairly “high tech” sites. With our next project, we’re going to be teaching something slightly different: Craft!

Crafttuts+ will be launching soon, and we’re currently looking for an editor for the site. Read on to find out about the job requirements, and decide whether you’d like to apply!

KL 2012 was months ago now. It’s starting to feel like a distant memory. But the photos continue to pour in.

Here’s a photo of the overflow of our hugely successful community night at the appropriately named “Palate Palette”. As you can see, it was a great night.

If you’d like to see more photos of KL and the team, you can check out the KL Community Meetup set on our Flickr stream. There are now 109 photos of the event.

Recently Jeffrey Way traveled to Virginia to record some great new video for Tuts+ Premium. It was shot at Aetuts+ editor Adam Everett Miller’s studio – Hello Studios. And Adam – who always has a spare camera handy – captured some great “behind the scenes” footage.

If you’re an active member of the Envato community, there’s a good chance you’re already aware that in late April, many Envato staff members set off to tropical Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to have our second ever staff conference and official community meetup! Over the two weeks in which we were there, we discussed a huge range of topics and laid out plans for the future of Envato. We worked as hard as we could to get the most value out of our time there and discussed many topics such as our company goals and values, our development priorities, the future of our brands, future sites and much, much more. In addition to this, we also spent a lot of time trying to get a deeper understanding of the fantastic community that make Envato special. It’s safe to say we all got a huge amount of value from the conference and are more motivated than ever to continue to deliver value to our awesome community – who are ultimately at the heart of the decisions we make.

Why Envato Is a Great Place to Work: Work Anywhere, Anytime

Why is Envato a great place to work? I’ll tell you. It’s flexible!

This morning I was able to drive my son to a job interview in Brisbane. While he’s being grilled, I can get some work done. I’m sitting at a McDonalds playground sipping a frappe and getting some work done with free wifi, watching my youngest son climb on the play equipment. In a couple of hours (maybe sooner) I’ll get a message that the interview is over (phew!), and I’ll drive us all home. Try that with a normal job!

James and Ian wander the city

Envato have been dribbling into Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur over the last week – most of us arrived on the weekend. We’re here for the Envato KL2012 Meetup. We’ve been suffering jet lag, tasting street food, having late nights, riding roller coasters, and sleeping in.

Best of all, we’ve been meeting the team we work with – people we touch base with every day, but haven’t met in “real life”. It’s a surreal experience.

She’s been kind enough to let us interview her and I hope you’re just as impressed with what D’Nelle can bring to the table as we are!

Let’s all give her a big Envato Community welcome!
