eCommerce Plugins – Price Change

by posted in News

Today we rolled out a price change on CodeCanyon for all eCommerce plugin files. Most have increased by between $1 and $10, depending on quality and complexity.

The new prices reflect the increasing standard and quality of plugins we now have in our library as a testament to the incredible authors who are part of CodeCanyon. Even with these subtle but important price changes, we feel CodeCanyon is still extremely affordable compared to our competitors. This is a reputation we’re proud of and it has proven to work very well for our authors.

Last week we announced our newly published and recently updated WordPress theme submission requirements, which raised lots of valuable discussion over in the forum post. The insight everyone provided was valuable and greatly appreciated. It also reminded us that we need to be including more community input, from a wider group, from much earlier stages! Where you provided feedback and it was not taken on board, we also really apologise and hope the clarifications below address your concerns better this time.

The process also made it obvious that we hadn’t been communicating clearly enough at the launch of these submission requirements, which we’ll provide further clarification on here. We will continue working harder at improving our communications, especially from within the Review team and covering all other aspects of review.

It’s been a big few months for the Marketplace team. In March we announced that a new license option would be available to WordPress themes and plugins. Since then, authors have been able to choose to license their WordPress themes and plugins as 100% GPL, instead of with Envato’s default split license.

Today, we’re extending that option to cover all theme and plugin categories that are associated with GPL-based platforms. This means that if you’re an author creating items with a framework that is licensed under the GPL, you can now choose to sell those items as 100% GPL on the Marketplaces.
