Weekly Inspiration

Last week at the Envato Community Meetup in K.L I met a young author who had just started designing and uploading his items. When I asked him how he was finding the experience he answered:

“I really love designing, but I don’t know if I will ever get an item accepted”.

I asked him why he thought that way and he replied that he didn’t know if he would ever be a good enough designer to achieve his dream.

It reminded me of this quote by Dinah Mulock Craik, a British writer.

“It is never too late to be what you might have been.”

As long as you believe in yourself and work hard toward your goals, you will achieve them. It is never too late to try!

How are you finding this week? Are you motivated and focused? Or are you finding it difficult to concentrate? Maybe you need to listen to some people who inspire you!

One of the most important tricks to remaining passionate about your work and ambitions is to surround yourself with people who support you. As Mark Twain says:

“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great makes you feel that you, too, can become great.”

– Mark Twain

Surround yourself with people who inspire you and help you develop your skills, even if that’s just by watching TED! :D

This week we are focusing on preparation. Do you prepare for your new projects? It’s always a good idea to take some time to brainstorm and consolidate any of your ideas before starting a project.

My dad always says:

“the six P’s are the key to success”.

What are the six P’s you ask?

Perfect,
Preparation,
Prevents,
Piss,
Poor,
Performance.

Although my dad’s quote is catchy, I have to say Benjamin Franklin had a better take on it:

“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”

Either way you look at it, preparation is a great place to start a project!
