Featured Desktop: Patrik Larsson

This is the minimal yet attractive desktop of GraphicRiver reviewer Patrik Larsson. Click the image for a full res version.

Patrik’s desktop only contains an Apple background image, a few status icons, and his most used apps. He tells me that he tends to keep his desktop clean and neat, so he trashes or moves all files from it within a few minutes of them appearing there.

Getting Started with Envato Analytics

A little known tool available to all Envato marketplace authors is Envato Analytics. This free tool not only allows authors to view sales totals of all files on one page, but as you drill down into each marketplace item, you can view more detailed information such as how many people have viewed your item in a month, unique visitors, average time spent on the page, where users were referred from, and what users searched in Google to find your items.

2011 and Yoggrt have teamed up with Envato to offer Marketplace authors a discount if buying an ad pack on one of the networks.

The first 2 Envato Elite authors to purchase an ad pack will receive a discount of $100 off of the total ad pack price, and the first 3 non-Elite Marketplace authors will get a discount of $50.

Howdy talented authors! In an ongoing quest for transparency, we bring you another submission tip. These are regular juicy tidbits about our review process, and address issues that can trip up authors. This tip is aimed at AudioJungle authors, but may be relevant to authors in our other marketplaces.

Today we have a brief look at upload instructions.

If you are a new author, you should fully familiarize yourself with the uploading instructions of the section you are submitting to. If you are submitting an ident for example, choose idents in the upload dropdown, then press Help before pressing Upload to see the respective rules for that section.

You can be the most creative, inspired person on the Envato Marketplaces but if you can’t market your products you won’t get the sales you deserve.

Recently threads have been appearing on the forums helping authors connect with each other on social media sites, like Twitter. Connecting with your fellow authors and buyers is an important part of the branding process. It allows you to be inspired by your colleagues, find out what your clients like and represent your products personally.

Social media is a powerful tool and the ability to present your brand globally with a simple click is an amazing opportunity. Creative people worldwide are embracing social media as a way to promote their work and the competition is fierce. There is one thing all our top sellers have in common and that is effective and creative branding.
