Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do for a living?

My name is Gaz Wildsmith. I’m a 39 year old musician/DJ from Manchester in the UK. I have extensively toured the US and China with my band Dead Wasps in the last couple of years and I also compose music on a freelance basis for various media projects/companies.

Our marketplaces gained a new feature today. You will now find social media buttons under the preview on each item page.

You don’t like keeping good news to yourself do you? Now with one click you can tell your Facebook friends or Twitter followers about the amazing new item you found—or created.

I never like being passive when I browse. Now it’s easier than ever to let others know about marketplace goodness. How many “Likes” have you clicked today?

Meet the Staff: Ibrahim Rodríguez

Every week we’ll introduce you to an Envato staff member or team. This week we meet Ibrahim Rodríguez from Support.

What is it like working for Envato, and what are some of the jobs you’ve had with us?

I really love working at Envato. I started out handling anti-piracy matters in relation to content from Envato’s marketplaces. I did so for about a year and a half.

I couldn’t believe that I was working for the company producing awesome tutorials and resources which I was a frequent reader and follower. It was very strange and confusing at the very beginning because I didn’t think it was possible working smoothly and remotely from home.

I remember being a paranoid parrot and telling my wife Nathalie during the first week that this work was going to be just for a couple of weeks but here I am! still working with awesome bosses, co-workers and meeting amazing people from the community.

My current position is Ninja in the Envato Stealth Department or Copyright Support Officer which is part of Envato Support Department, but as a dedicated staff member handling piracy related cases and tickets. I chase, hunt and investigate all sorts of piracy and copyright issues. This way we try to keep authors’ items healthy and save sales.

Also, part of my daily tasks is annoying Drew Douglass and Jarel Remick via chat to help me correct and improve my written English. I think they hate me because of this. (Paranoid parrot again).

iPhones (and other smart phones) have become the computer we take everywhere. They become handier and more powerful each year. And the apps are cheap!

But there is so many apps! And the cost of trying a few apps to find the right one adds up. That why I love iPhone.Appstorm. The site has lots of reviews and “quick looks” of the best iPhone apps out there, as well as tips and tricks, news and hardware reviews.

From the site’s about page:

Chances are if you’re reading this blog you love your iPhone. Well we do too, and we know there’s nothing better than tricking it out with some killer iPhone apps. With so many independent app publishers around though, it’s hard to keep track of what’s out there.

iPhone.AppStorm brings you not just reviews of great (and not so great) iPhone apps, but we also round them up into categorized lists, give you how-to tips and tricks to get more out of them, and combine it with a healthy dose of iPhone related news.

Got an iPhone? Visit iPhone.AppStorm today! What do you like best about the site?

This Week at Envato – Would You Look Better as a Caricature?

This week at Envato we photographed our front door, and chose the winners of the Vectortuts+ Poster Design session. We turned Psdtuts+ editor Grant Friedman into a caricature – and I think it was an improvement. And we spent way too much time turning our Envato usernames into famous brands. Details after the jump!

Here are the highlights from Envato Notes this week:

Bag Badges

Bag Badges by Laurie Pink

Our marketplace authors love badges. Some seem fixated on collecting them. Badges for winning competitions, being featured, going exclusive, and selling a truckload of items. Even growing a mo!  Is there anything you wouldn’t do for a badge?

That all sounds like a lot of fun, and it is. But there are bigger benefits to badges than going crazy and wearing flair. In this article we talk about a few of them.

Let us know, and we’ll come up with a way of passing your questions on and getting some answers.
