Today we meet the goTo team from ActiveDen – and GraphicRiver and AudioJungle.

Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do for a living?

Actually, we are a team headed by three minds: Carlos Vergara (System Engineer) who is 28 years old, Katherine Tuiran (General Manager) who is 27 years old, and Alexander Ruiz (Graphic Designer) who is 28 years old. We live in Cartagena, Colombia. Together we created a small interactive agency three years ago. Since then other great people have joined us have brought their talent to make a more comprehensive working group.

We were developing custom Flash sites in the local market until we discovered the Envato Marketplace a year ago, and immediately saw a great business opportunity for selling our work abroad. This has been a very rewarding experience – it allows us to be in touch with a lot of people around the world, receiving their suggestions and ideas to improve the quality of our products, and also for freelancing and custom jobs.

Here’s a video from way back in the archives. At the October 2009 meeting of the Melbourne Ruby and Rails User group I did a presentation on a lazy evaluation tool we created to help deal with the extra complexity all our view caching was adding to our Marketplace app.

Meet the Staff: Travis King

Every week we’ll introduce you to an Envato staff member or team. This week we meet scholar and funny man, Travis King. I’ll leave it to you to decide when he’s being serious and when he’s not.

What is it like working for Envato, and what are some of the jobs you’ve had with us?

Once and while Jeffery lets me out of the little cage he keeps me in, and for those brief moments between the beatings and the confinement, working for Envato is pretty enjoyable.

Actually, working with Envato is a blast. Back in the early days when Envato was known as Eden, they caught my eye as a group of people I really thought I would like working with. As is often the case, I was completely correct.

My first job with Envato was as a product reviewer for FreelanceSwitch. At the time I had never really written anything for online publication, but site editor Skellie gave me my big chance. I’ll be forever thankful to her for that, but please don’t tell her. She’ll use this information to wield ultimate power over me and commit her evil, evil deeds.

I’ve actually had a bunch of different jobs with Envato. There’s been so many that staff often ask me to explain exactly what I do. I’ve been everything from writer, HTML dude, Creattica blogger, newsletter editor, personal assistant to Collis, screencaster and researcher. Currently I manage Snipplr and work with the Envato Marketing team.

Whew…I need a raise.

This Week at Envato

And another week comes to a close. The year is flying by, and the weather is starting to warm up for us Australians. Even Melbourne had temperatures in the high 30°s this week. (That’s in Celsius, not Fahrenheit, guys!)

I’m starting to plan a brief holiday – my brain is telling me it needs a break, and hasn’t been as cooperative as usual. I’ve been traveling too much this year, so I think I’ll spend a few weeks at home, enjoy Australia’s lovely Gold Coast, and turn our jungle back into a lawn. Until then, there’s plenty to do!

How has your week been?

Today we meet Claudiu (Nikin) from AudioJungle.

Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do for a living?

Hey, my name is Claudiu, but my friends call me Niki, hence the NikiN username I have on Envato. I am from Romania and I’ve just graduated (like two weeks ago) my MA studies in British and American Literature and Culture.

AudioJungle has just become the first Envato marketplace to surpass 20,000 items. The news was recently shared by site manager Scott Wills on Yammer. This explosive growth has taken less than two and a half years. I wonder what Scott is using for fertilizer.
