Our New Rates are Live!

by posted in News
Sep 30
2010

Our most popular post on Envato Notes by far is the announcement of the upcoming marketplace rate changes – with 230 comments so far. Well, the day has arrived, and the new rates are in effect!

Here is a summary of the new rates from the Envato Marketplace Wiki:

Every time an item is sold on the Envato Marketplaces a percentage of the sale price goes to the author. The amount is determined by whether the author is selling the item only on the Envato Marketplaces and by how many sales they have had in the past.

  • Selling exclusively: 50-70%
  • Selling non-exclusively: 25%
  • Additional earnings (referral program): 30%

Congratulations authors – may your success skyrocket!

For further details, refer to this Wiki page.

New Tuts+ Feature: Authors Can Promote Their Marketplace Items

by posted in News
Sep 28
2010

If you’re a marketplace author, you can now promote your marketplace items at the bottom of any tutorial or article you’ve made for Tuts+. This is a great chance to get your items in front of thousands of people, so if you’ve worked with Tuts+ before please fill out this form to start promoting your marketplace items on your Tuts+ posts.

The “Jeffrey Way” image above is what the promotion will look like. You can add the marketplace you are most active on, and it will show a full row of your most recent files.

If you’ve never contributed to Tuts+ before and are a marketplace author, the extra promotions of your items means now’s a pretty good time to get involved! The sidebar of each Tuts+ site has information on how to get published there. We’d love to have you!

Envato Pronunciation Guide

by posted in General
Sep 28

After the Envato meetup in Chicago, it became apparent that no two people pronounced anything related to Envato the same. That’s why we’ve developed the official Envato pronunciation guide. Special thanks to Lance for making this guide a reality.

Envato
en-vah-toe
or en–bot-o
Really, either one works, but the closer you get to making it sound like a Spanish word (en–bot-o), the cooler it sounds. The only truly incorrect pronunciation is in-vay-toe (I’m looking at you, Jarel).

Every week we’ll introduce you to an Envato staff member or team. This week we meet the CodeCanyon team.

Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that actual human beings sort through each and every submission to CodeCanyon on a daily basis. The following staff members are highly active in the community forums, and review one or more categories. They’re friendly, so feel free to say hi to them!

Hi, I’m Jeffrey. I work for Envato, where I manage a code marketplace, called CodeCanyon, and run a popular web development tutorial site, Nettuts+. During my free-time, I’ve found myself doing more and more writing, most recently with the release of “Photoshop to HTML.” Beyond code, I also love to play guitar, and embarrass my wife-in-training, Allie, by playing “Steel Dragon” songs loudly with the windows rolled down in front of movie theaters. Trust me…it’s funny. Feel free to stop by www.jeffrey-way.com, and say hi!
