Meet VideoMagus (Timur Seyfi) from VideoHive!

Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do for a living?

Thank you indeed for this interview opportunity. I really appreciate it, definitely not being the best After Effects master on VideoHive, though I am one of the best sellers – thanks to the VideoHive buyers.

Well, a bit about myself: My name is Tim. I’m not as young as most of the VideoHive authors. A long time ago I became happily married, and have two nice children. For the last few years I have lived in Vancouver, Canada, having moved there from Europe.

I was born in Russia, graduated in Linguistics from Moscow State University, then studied in a European Film College in Denmark and completed a Russian Film Institute with Diploma in Film & TV production. For the next few years I worked as editor, director, scriptwriter, and actor for Russian TV channels and some international projects. I then spent a few years as a freelance multimedia artist in the Czech Republic, Germany, Malta, and Spain.

And now I do my best as a video freelancer on the very west of Canada and the world. LOL.

This Week at Envato

This morning when I looked at my computer I thought its date was wrong. It said “Fri”. Where has this week gone? It’s been a big one. What happened at Envato this week?

What’s Happening in the Melbourne Office

The Melbourne office is a great place to visit, and an even better place to work. Besides the pool table and occasional late night movies, the office plays host to a bunch of musical instruments that are used for relaxation and spontaneous concerts. Aaron Osteraas counted them this week: “There’s also something like three electrics, an acoustic guitar, my bass (temporarily), a ukulele and a piano keyboard in the office.” I guess that’s why a lot of the staff wear headphones as they work!

Aaron also discovered an interesting piece of artwork on a whiteboard. What is it? A snail? A nautilus? An algorithm gone wrong? You decide!

You can now log into your Premium account from any Tuts+ site, and when you do, you’ll be directed back to the page you were on. No more switching sites or remembering URLs.
When you’re logged in, you can download source files without needing to go to the Premium area.

We’re excited about these changes, and hope they make life a lot easier for you. What do you think?

Marketplace API Version 2

Good news sports-fans! We’ve decided to stabilise the current bleeding edge version of the Marketplace API and mark it as version 2. This change is effective from today. We’ve got some exciting new API changes coming up over the next month or two, but before we start working on them we wanted to make sure we lock off the API as it is now so all the cool things people have built so far don’t break.

1. Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do for a living?

Hi! I’m from Lisbon, Portugal, born and raised, and I edit video for a living, and sometimes I also do some camera work. As a hobby, I make music.

Some people agree that I have a good singing voice, so I am the lead singer and songwriter on Concierge. Recently I competed in the Portuguese version of Idol, where I placed in the last 27 (out of 15,000!)

New Order Confirmation Email for Marketplace Purchases

I love confirmation emails. They give me peace of mind, remind me what I bought, and provide a record of purchases I can find easy enough in Gmail.

From today, you will receive a confirmation email every time you purchase an item from an Envato marketplace. It’s not a tax receipt – hang in there, we’re working on that! – but besides reminding you of your purchase it will also do the following:

Let you know where to download the file
Allow you to download a “license certificate”
Show you other items by the same author.

We’ll also show you featured content from the relevant marketplace, and eventually items that may interest you from other Envato sites, including Rockable books.

We hope you find it helpful! Here’s a sample email:
